It's time to introduce the victim and the suspects. Click on each of the links below to read their stories:

Entering the crime lab, in the next module, we will use what we know about these characters to try to solve the mystery.
Learning Intentions
  1. Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text
  2. Determine the meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrases in a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area
  3. Use context (e.g., definitions, examples, or restatements in text) as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase

Success Criteria
  • Read the texts provided
  • Identify information from the text that may be a clue to the mystery's solution
  • Find an unfamiliar word
  • Use the rest of the text to determine a possible meaning for the unfamiliar word
