Here's a video preview of the book: I enjoyed this book. In fact, I admire Korman's respect for the reader, not holding back on harder vocabulary and talking as if he was speaking to adults. At the same time, the very thing that makes the book interesting - the legal jargon and the inside-the-characters'-heads delivery - may be what keeps kids in the fourth grade from finishing the book. I like the premise of Restart, and the craftiness in storytelling was very appealing, and I recommend it to higher-level readers. |
After all these years and all the books that Gordon Korman has written, Restart is the first one I've read. The story is told from multiple points of view - a writing method I have come to enjoy more and more for its manner of keeping a reader turning the pages.
