In our first week of school, Joplin Eagles drew Joplin Eagles, learned about our national symbol, wrote paragraphs to accompany a tune entitled Spirit Animal: Eagle, read and sang along to music about eagles, and leaned about the adaptations of the eagle. Whew. About the eagle drawings, students had to follow oral and visual instructions. We were all impressed with our finished products, and some students even experimented with creative highlights and shadows.
