The Culper RingGeorge Washington (Code name: 711) is one of the United States' favorite generals. He was the first commander-in-chief. In continued studies of his effectiveness as a military leader, we find one of Washington's strengths to be his acceptance and strategic use of a spy network. Five spies, in particular, risked everything to serve the cause of liberty. National Geographic has an interesting article about the Culper Spy Ring.
