Since students learned about the French siege of Fort William Henry on Lake George in New York, British surrendering the fort, and the siege that followed, we considered the shape of the old fort. I figured some tactile practice would be appropriate. Students had some guided play time with the pattern blocks. They soon found themselves struggling to recreate the shape of Fort William Henry.
