- History - we need to wrap up our study of the Corps of Discovery. The journey of Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and their men is one of the most fascinating moments of American History.
- Science - we have to conclude our experiments in Motion and Design. Teams will continue to build and modify their vehicles in this unit.
- Reading - we are in the middle of a big comprehension project (Read Like a Reader/Read Like a Writer), using the story of Eddie Takes Off. Participating students have conducted some deeper conversations about their reading during this unit.
- Writing - we must begin writing opinion papers (Opinions are like noses: everybody has one.). We will also be learning more about figurative language.
- Presenting - We have a couple of Readers Theater presentation we can work on. These will help students in their presentation skills, while at the same time developing reading fluency. As an aside, I will be hanging some "spotlights" in the room to assist with the ambiance.
- Math - It looks like we still need to take the district assessment. This got away from us during all of our work on the Christmas program and the production of the SOAR video, last month. That being said, we are going to be busy, busy, busy. Expect us to push the envelope to try to get in as much as we can (Division, Fractions, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Problem Solving, and putting it all together). Some of this time will be spent in combination with Mr. Culbertson's students.
What should Hoggatteers expect from the second half of their fourth grade school year?
