We are coming up on the 25th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing. On April 19, 1995, I was wrapping up my last year of teaching in Oklahoma City, just five miles from the explosion downtown. As the lead teacher in the building, with a principal who was in a meeting elsewhere, I was responsible for locking the doors and keeping the staff and students safe. This will be the first year I have not shared my story face-to-face with students. With that weighing heavily on my thoughts, I have now established a distance-learning version of the presentation. I know it's not the same as being face-to-face, but it will have to do for the time being. | |
Since the presentation is a unique one, it is not really interactive. Instead, I am creating longer videos myself in an attempt to make the story more personal. There will only be a couple of videos that I have curated from elsewhere. In person, my account keeps a class' attention for a full day. Hopefully, it will not lose too much in the delivery, this time.
