Our cave entrance has been blasted for easier access to the interior (No more climbing down that precarious rope!), our column is in place, the waterfall is flowing, and some other decorations have been hung. Now we await more student made items: stalactites and stalagmites, cave crickets, bats, and crystals to round out the cave and get it ready for tours. Soon, we will begin rehearsing to bring in third grade classes for tours in the cave with all of the lights out. Speaking of darkness, by the way, this is the most complete darkness I think I've ever achieved, so I'll ask families to loan flashlights to their students for the tour process. You'll want to keep tabs on us as we enter the speleological world for the next few weeks. If you don't hear from us in a while, send a qualified search party. | |
It's a bit of a transformation that has begun in Room 404. While it is still a work in progress, the Mr. Hoggatt's classroom is slowly becoming Hoggatt Cave - open seasonally since 1995.
