The Deer Leap is located just above the trout runs at Roaring River and offers a bird's-eye view of the operation and the river. It's blazed in green, but it meets up with a portion of the 3 1/2-mile Firetower Trail, blazed in white (which I hope to attack when things get warmer).
Another trip to Missouri's Roaring River State Park found me hiking the shorter Deer Leap Trail. This trail is just two-tenths of a mile long, but it's quite a climb. With the temperature in the 30s, I quickly found myself winded, breathing brisk air and listening to the fast thumping of my heartbeat. I knew it was not a day to press myself much further with more climbing.
