For the second time, this season, my 12-year-old daughter sang the national anthem for a baseball game. The first time came when her school honors choir sang the song for the Double-A affiliate team, the Springfield Cardinals. This week, she performed solo for the Joplin Outlaws, Joplin's summer collegiate club. As much as I don't like baseball, Joplin's athletic complex at Shifferdecker Park is a pleasant enough place to spend some time, and the interaction of the announcers and fans provided a homey feel. | |
We were proud of our singer and her ability to stand before the world and sing without fear, and we are more than happy to allow her to have these experiences.
