This third installment of a short Core Behaviors series is all about getting students to understand how to get along with each other. We cannot afford to make the assumption that a student can't along because s/he refuses to get along. It could just be that s/he doesn't know how to get along. That's where this episode comes in. In one short audio segment, I attempt to give teachers some tools to help them explicitly teach students some of the steps to getting along with other people - even when they disagree. It is an important skill that extends well-beyond the school day. Getting along is an important part of the Core Behaviors and needs to be retaught and rehearsed throughout the school year. |
