It might surprise people to see all of the important things that have developed since I began: things like slap bracelets, rubber band looms, and Pokémon Go, "fidget" spinners, and pop-its, and television innovations like Teletubbies, Blue's Clues, Disney Junior, and Little Einsteins. In the more adult world, we now have smart phones and smart watches, not to mention the internet, WiFi, satellite radio, TV shows on-demand, and flat-screen TV. We also have air fryers and pressure cookers on our countertops at home. Even Christmas icicle lights and LEDs have been produced and popularized since I started my first teaching job in 1990.
Some people would say that these and other innovations are signs of old age. I could date myself more by delving further into my past personal history and listing other products like microwave ovens and color television programs.
