When homework is assigned, it is expected to be completed and turned in on time.  Most of the time, official homework will be sent only during a week that has a full five school days.  Homework will be sent home on Monday  and is due by Friday.

Other homework includes the standing assignment of reading for 30 minutes every night.  This reading may be done by the student, to the student, or with the student.  Parents may involve themselves as much as they are comfortable in this area.  No one should do the homework for a student, but some students require more help from an adult than other students require.

Finally, Mr. Hoggatt and the school require signatures of parents on a variety of papers throughout the year.  These signatures are due on the day after they are sent home.  When these papers are left unsigned or are not returned to school on the date due, a student has not fulfilled his/her complete homework responsibility.  Parents should not assume responsibility away from the student in such a case.  Instead, the parents should expect their child to bring the papers to them, along with something with which to sign.

When homework is not turned in on time, you will spend recess isolated from the other students.

Keep in mind that field trips, class pictures, and other items often require money from home. Parents are requested to take care of these needs as soon as possible when a request is sent home.  These, of course, are often optional.

Mr. Hoggatt’s suggestion is that families keep $20 in a safe place for such times.
