When we visited with family for the Thanksgiving holiday, we were all able to drove over to my college town, Chickasha, Oklahoma. There, in Shannon Springs Park, is one of the first Christmas light displays to exceed the norm. While most municipal lighting projects for the season require people to remain in their cars, this one also allows parking and walking. There probably isn't anything out of the ordinary here - other than the actual horse-drawn rides, ice skating, and a couple of carnival rides. | |
One additional note about Shannon Springs includes the fact that I named a fictional town after this park in the book, Chippin Cleats. It is the story of a who finds his way out of the gang life in the streets of St. Louis in an unlikely place, hours away from home. That book is available for purchase on through Amazon.
