Creating Characters

In creating a great character, the details are important.  We don't just want to know the character's name or what she looks like; we need to know the character's mannerisms, his thoughts, his inner beliefs, and his flaws.  We need to know how he does things, why she acts a certain way, and what he likes to do for fun.

When placed in a specific setting, how does your character react?

How might your character react to tragedy?  Surprise?  Victory?

Is your character a hero?  A villain?  How does the reader know?
