There are many legends about food at the 1904 World's Fair. Read about some of them on this webpage: Food Facts and Fallacies. On that page, you will read about iced tea, cotton candy, ice cream cones, hotdogs, hamburgers, peanut butter, and more. You might even be interested in what might have been the original Cola War, involving Coca Cola.
Your team is tasked with establishing a menu for a concession area located near the ride you created in Step 5. You must work together to create unique foods and set reasonable prices for today.
Create a menu board to accompany your food stand. Before you begin, check out our Menus for Math page for inspiration. The difference you must include in your menu board is that your food must be unique and appealing, and must be named to fit your theme. Render your menu board on a piece of construction paper. Make it neat! Once you have your menu board, allow your teammates to order from it. Figure the cost to charge each teammate (Tax is included in your price, so don't worry about adding it.). When they pay in 10- or 20-dollar bills, make correct change. Count the change back to your teammates in the way taught by the teacher. Be ready to teach the class using your menu and your teammates' food orders. |
