| Our recent stint with the loaned trunks from the American Revolution Institute allowed us some experience with some "artifacts" from 18th century sailing vessels. The items included in the trunks were similar to the tools used by the sailors on merchant and naval ships from French, British, and Continental ships. There is much to learn about navigating by the stars and by sight as we continue to ponder everyday life on these historic wooden vessels. Later in the year, we will learn more about a particular figure in Revolutionary history - a fellow by the name of John Paul Jones. |
