Put a couple of batteries, three wires, battery holders, and clay together, and not much will happen. Wind a thin, nichrome wire around the two regular wire ends to complete the circuit, and you might have just constructed the crude inner workings of a light bulb - a filament to be specific. It's always exciting to watch the wire glue and to smell the metallic burn. While one group's filament burned off in a wisp, another's glowed for an astounding several minutes. | |
