Back to School: School Supplies

The school district provides a universal school supply list for all fourth graders in Joplin Schools.  Since every teacher does not use supplies in the same way, I have changed the supply list for our class.  In other words, do not buy everything on the district list; I have made some substitutions and omissions to save families money.

Please note:  due to current health cautions,
​I have changed a couple of items since the spring.

These items are from the district list, along with some changes in quantity:

• 1 scissors, 6”, pointed
• 1 box of facial tissues:  ½ the amount on the district list
• 3 plastic folders with pockets and brads
• 1 set of watercolor paints (for art)
• 1 black sharpie marker (for art)
• 1 hand sanitizer (boys)
• 1 disinfecting wipes (girls)
• 3 composition notebooks w/stitched pages:  3 times more than the district list
• 1 PLAIN SCHOOL BOX (added to the list since spring)
• 1 FACE MASK (non-distracting pattern, to be worn to school from home everyday; added to the list since spring)

Please pick up this additional purchase that is not on the district list:

Do NOT buy these items from the district list:

• 1 box of crayons, 24 count
• 1 box of markers, washable, broad tip, 8 basic colors
• 4 glue sticks
• 48 pencils, yellow
• 1 package of colored pencils, 36 count)
• 2 spiral notebook, wide-ruled, 70 pages
• 2 packages of notebook paper, wide-ruled
• 1 vinyl, 3-ring binder, clear front pocket
• 4 dry erase markers
• 1 highlighter
• 1 headphones

Keep things simple, though:
it is not necessary to purchase anything “special” for your child,
​and there is no need to put names on anything.
