One of the richest sections of the museum at the Will Rogers Memorial is the diorama room. Each diorama tells a different part of the Will Rogers story. Rogers had a full and eventful life, starting on the farm in Claremore, Oklahoma, and then extending into the entertainment industry - the stage, radio, and movies. Will Rogers' humor captured the attention of the nation and inspired generations to pay closer attention to politics. The final diorama displays the last chapter of Rogers' life, when he and pilot Wiley Post went down in Alaskan territory. Both of these popular Oklahomans perished in the crash. There is much to learn from this very different public figure, and this museum is a worthwhile and beautiful side trip on your ride down Route 66 or Interstate 44. | |
