Students in my wife's classes at Neosho Christian School celebrated Groundhog(gatt) Day, Thursday, by recreating a poem about a shadow. They achieved this by finding the words and letters of the poetry in copies of the local newspaper. I've tried this with fourth graders: they worked in groups and could only produce a stanza. Thankfully, with these 7th-12th graders, they were able to finish the entire poem (Naturally, they joked about learning how to make ransom notes as they worked.). | |
