We may as well get this out of the way. On Thanksgiving Day, I started feeling achy, and I had one of those low-grade fevers. I isolated myself from my family at that time. The next day, I went to be tested for the dastardly villain of 2020, the dreaded C19. Still feverish with body aches for the rest of that day, the results came in around 6pm, telling me that I was positive for the virus. I figured if I was going to take a test, I might as well pass it. Here is how I presented it to the parents of my students: |
I've got some good news and some bad news:
BAD NEWS: My COVID test returned with a positive result.
GOOD NEWS: Now I have proof that I am a positive person!
BAD NEWS: I have to isolate through December 6.
GOOD NEWS: Most of my isolation time came over the holiday break, so I only have to miss a week of school. We are thankful that we did not travel to celebrate with family.
BAD NEWS: I feel achy and haven't been able to shake the fever.
GOOD NEWS: I am breathing clearly.
BAD NEWS: It looks like the rest of the immediate family also has the virus.
GOOD NEWS: We like to do things as a family.
BAD NEWS: Hoggatteers will have to sit through alternative plans, this week.
GOOD NEWS: We have remained in a good position to still stay on schedule through the end of the year.
Here's hoping everyone's symptoms subside quickly. Believe me, I would rather be in school. What a year.
