My old fourth grade team pulled off this year's transformation at Cecil Floyd Elementary with typical energy and style. I was privileged to help them just a little bit with the set up on the Friday afternoon before students would reenter the building the following Monday. Not only would they face ominous standardized testing, but these students also entered a building of teachers who were willing to do some extra work for them. It is my utmost belief that the joy of learning is a driving force behind engaging students and maintaining order and discipline. That being said, I would not have conducted such a lively activity during testing week, but perhaps during the week that followed. | |
