| This little schoolhouse sits in the heart of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. People are not permitted to enter the building, but I loved seeing the set-up inside. It should remind anyone who peeks into the door to slow down and appreciate the finer things in our history - a time when it was acceptable and even preferable to teach Biblical principles to students. Sure, there was the reminder of a more direct teaching method, as well - when teachers could call students out for their ignorance or malfeasance by shaming them with a Dunce cap. Alas, methods change, but the goal is still the same - bring up kids in a way that they can positively contribute to their community. |
And George Washington is still the first president of our democratic republic.
