| It's finally official. I am one of 50 teachers selected to attend the 50 Teacher Celebration at Disney's Imagination Campus at the Disney Parks and Resorts in Florida. Over 5,800 teachers applied, and less than one percent were chosen to participate in the celebration. A bit of the magic was revealed in the official announcement on Teacher Appreciation Day, last Wednesday: |  |
They will be treated to a four-day celebratory event at Walt Disney World Resort over Memorial Day Weekend that will include special entertainment experiences in the parks, sessions with Disney executives, Disney Imagineers and a Broadway performer, plus cutting-edge educational workshops and a celebratory parade at Magic Kingdom.
There is still enough mystery and intrigue to the event, and it is exciting to dream about what kinds of experiences will be available during the weekend. Who are the executives and Imagineers? Who is the Broadway performer? What will the parade include? What special entertainment is provided? And, of course, what might I learn at the educational workshops? Many of the participants are probably looking forward to being in the parks, but I am more interested in doing things the general public does not get to do.
