We also saw the "Dorothy II" apparatus from Twister and a few props from Men in Black.
While touring the Strataca Salt Mine Museum in Hutchinson, Kansas, we were reminded of one of the supplementary uses of the underground space. A company called the Underground Vaults & Storage leases a portion of the abandoned section of the mine to store important documents, films, and artifacts. This paper is from the day after President Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theater. The preservative qualities of the salt have kept this copy of the newspaper from typically yellowing, and the text is still easy to read.
