We found a local connection when we visited the Alcatraz East museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I've seen the bullet-riddled car before on display in Texas. This one is from the movie, but I've seen the real car, as well. The contents of the actual car when it was taken by police are framed and on display in the museum. Other items include a poem written by Bonnie Parker, a letter from her elementary school teacher, which contains some interesting and ironic remarks. Of course, the local connection includes a hideout here in Joplin, Missouri. Camera film recovered from the apartment was developed and truly glamorized the pair of outlaws. That came after a bloody shoutout with Joplin police, which took two officers' lives. |
