It seems that the pages turned pretty quickly, so even with some sections that seemed drawn out too far, this book was able to keep my attention. Says the author's website: For twelve-year-old Dash Gibson, being one of the first humans to live on a moon colony isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But his life gets a jolt when a top lunar scientist mysteriously turns up dead. Dash suspects foul play, but no one believes him, so Dash takes the case himself – but he better watch out. If he doesn’t crack the case quickly, he too might end up dead on the moon. Even with the unique setting, this seemed to be established as a scenario that really could happen. I was buying the entire premise...until near the end when the twist is introduced. Suddenly, the tale was more fantasy that mystery-adventure. I just didn't appreciate the precipitous change in genre. |
