| It's not the type of attention I crave. I've never thought my birthday was that big of a deal, but I know that others have (e.g., my parents, my kids, my peers). I just don't do well when people want to honor me (or tease me) about getting older. Yesterday, I turned fifty, and some people made a big deal out of it. All day. Certain people enjoyed giving me a hard time about my five decades. Still there were a few important people who honored me, including my wonderful students. One young lady in the class even sang me an original song. |
