Tuesday gave us the opportunity to light a standard light bulb using D-cell batteries instead of electrical outlets in the wall. We used 12 batteries to see a slight glow, then added four more to witness a fuller glow.
Afterward, we looked at a partially-dissected light bulb to see and draw its innards. Our observations brought many questions and curiosities to Thomas Edison's invention.
It reminded me of the light bulb that came on over students' heads earlier in the day when we discovered the differences between differing text structures. It's nice to see the bulb light up from time to time.
