| One of our young ladies was chosen to participate in a recent College Bound competition at Missouri Southern State University. Competing with three other schools, her task was to wrap Principal Hennessey in toilet paper (which is, apparently, a college skill). She represented us well with a great attitude, even though Ms. Hennessey was not covered as much as the other principals when time was up. Cadin Jones wants to be an engineer with the U.S. Army when he grows up. And he's already planning on doing what it takes to get there — going to college.
"I am excited to go," said Cadin, 9. "I just don't know where."

"I think it was great," said Cadin, who added that he has learned that he must graduate from high school in order to attend college. "I really don't know how to put it into words."
Gayle Hennessey, principal of Cecil Floyd, said the purpose of the pep rally is to get children thinking about college and to prepare them for their campus visits in the spring. Some pupils go through school believing that college isn't possible for them, but Operation College Bound works to make it at least an option, she said.
"This opens up a whole new world of opportunity," she said.
