The last group's dark ride project happens to be about one of my own books, Chippin Cleats. Students didn't quite know how to take this story when I started reading it. They weren't sure about the violent nature of the main characters, wannabe gang members in St. Louis, Missouri.
When one of the character dies in a gang fight, friend Devin flees with his mother. They find themselves staying with relatives in rural Oklahoma, where Devin realizes that gang life is not everywhere and that he doesn't have to fight to survive. This was the last group to finish, but they also included some unique features in their ride - some pass-through scenes and a three-dimensional bus. |
